Leg One of BajaHaHa complete
28 October 2011 | In Turtle Bay - Short Post
Priscilla
Well, we're finally here! First leg complete! This will be a short post, more details later and pictures won't be uploaded until Cabo, but I have some great ones of Paul's softball adventure with the yachtistas and tortugans!
We had an uneventful motor sail down from San Diego. The "rolling start" from San Diego went until 7 am Tuesday morning. (Everyone was allowed to motor at 6kts). Since the sun was out and fog had finally disappeared, we tempted fate and hoisted our spinnaker for the first time!! Once we got the kinks out, it was pretty cool, until the wind died completely. We alternated sailing with various sail configurations and motoring. Goal was to get into Bahia Tortuga before nightfall on Wed. Glad we did! The washing maching we were in on the last 18 or so hours went to spin cycle after we were safely tucked into the bay. Whew! Today's the beach party and tomorrow we leave for Magdalena Bay and hope to get anchored Monday Eve with only one overnight. A full night's sleep really beats 3 hour watches!!!!!
We're all safe, not sunburned, happily eating and sleeping our way south!
More later....
