One Long and Sunny Day!

Ok, I know Oh-dark-thirty refers to almost anytime before the sun comes up, but getting up 1:30 am? Really? Weren't we just getting home from the nightclubs not long ago? So we left our slip in Monterey at 2:30 am, the skies were clear, (no fog..woohoo!) we could see the lights from Fisherman's Wharf and all along the Pacific Grove and Carmel Coast, Santa Cruz and Moss Landing framed the bay so we finally had some reference points. Calm glistening water, mild swells and nothing but blackness outside of the bay..... ooooooo...... We saw the sunrise down by Pt.Sur about 7 am and were treated to sunny skies all the way to Morro Bay! Along the way, the water starts to turn to that beautiful blue color unlike the gray/blue of San Francisco. Winds were light, but the surfing was great! Maxed at 10 kts! Surfing in the entrance to Morro Bay Harbor on a flood tide was fun, too! 14 1/2 hours later we arrive in Morro Bay in 20k winds that popped up from the beam just as we were side-tying up to a long dock, ....figures. I think we'll be here a couple of days catching up on chores before heading to Santa Barbara.
