Another short hop
13 October 2011 | Dana Point to Oceanside
Priscilla
We love these short hops! Just wish we had some wind....We left Dana Point about 10am and arrived about 1:30p, nice!
We headed out to the deeper water hoping to see more whales, but the only things out there were lots of dolphins, all heading somewhere with great purpose. One pod appeared to be little guys trying to catch up! Very cute.
Lots of excitement with the navy conducting "exercises". First, they were a few miles offshore from Pendelton, then they turned around and headed towards shore, then they radioed us and requested we change course towards shore a little because they had "limited mobility", then they promptly turned around and steamed offshore again at 28k! I think the exercise was getting the sailboats to move....
I think we left San Francisco about a month too late. It would be nice to spend a couple days in each port, renting bikes and checking out the towns. Maybe next time.
Tomorrow, off to San Diego for a week in a slip before the start of the HaHa on Monday, the 24th, at 11 am. We've got a fridge check up scheduled, want to spend some time catching up with more Ensenada friends, Wendy and Darrell, we're expecting visitors in the early part of the week and our HaHa crew, MaryLou and Lance will be flying in from RYC on Wednesday.
