Mid-Winter Run
29 June 2009 | Ross Island, Antarctica
Sunday was another day of Mid-Winter festiveties, the mid-winter run. I had signed up to run but at the last moment was asked if I would photograph the event. It was a good time had by all.
Already ,at about 2 pm each day we have a slight glow on the horizon. a signal that the sun is returning to us . It's not even anything you would really notice until your eyes adjust to the dark, but it's there. And getting brighter every day.
I found a new way to keep myself busy these days. Radio. I'm DJing a show on Friday nights with the lineman foreman, Nathan. I wish I had started doing this sooner. I really enjoy it. Who knew that playing music and talking on the radio would be so much fun.
Yesterday was a banner day. I saw a beautiful moon , a giant shooting star, amazing Auroras, Lighdar (a lazor shot into space from town...science) and beautiful colors on the horizon from the sun. Truly a good day to look up.
Now, everybody in town is gearing up for the 4th of July party coming up this weekend. The band is play that night, our second show as a band. Going to be a great time.
Hope all is well in your world.
Peace , Love and Sunshine
