The "last" days are here.
06 August 2009 | Ross Island, Antarctica
We are at that point in the season were everything we are doing, we are doing for the last time. The last Bingo night , the burger night, the last DA duty. Things that are winter over activities. As we get ready for Winfly and the invasion of new people we are closing down all the things we had for our leisure time support . The light room is getting closed this week . The hot tub was shut down and dragged off to it's summer hiding place last week. I've turned in both my guitars to gear issue. We are having last meeting for the photo club. Last weekend was the yacht clubs last meeting and end of season party.
It's not that we can't do things after winfly, it's just that we hand over control of station a little to the people coming in. They will start there activities and events and clubs and social groups. As far as running the station that will still be ours ,mostly, but they will start as soon as they get here with setting up their "environment, personality". We're out numbered , so we grin and bare it.
These are good times for us. Every body is making plans and reservations for travel. Some traveling alone and some meeting up here and there. It's amazing to think where this group is going to be, collectively, in 2 months...all corners of the world. We are scattering to the 4 winds. Very few are going directly home, most are planning to travel non-stop until their next contract starts down here. We should have a lot of good travel stories next year.
The End is near! Even though we still have 2 months to go, time is flying by at an amazing pace. Be fore I know it I'll be face down in the grass of New Zealand breathing in the smells that I have missed so much.
Peace, Love and Sunshine.
