Swimming with dolphins

We met up with fellow cruisers on Gypsy Blues, Rene and Cheryl, and their boat here in Kealakekua Bay, near Kona. This bay is where Captain Cook met his fate; a monument to this courageous explorer as well as his grave reside here. The bay has decent snorkeling and a pod of dolphin, who came over to us as if to welcome us to their home. They played, jumped out of the water, caressed each other, and to our total delight, swam with us. Words cannot express the feeling of being so close to these magnificent creatures. It is wonderful to have them play off our bow, but to be in the water in the wild with them was totally unexpected and beyond awesome.
