That Time of Year

And then came the rains... On the BC coast this means it's time to hunker down for 6 months of the wet stuff or head south to warmer places. So with our seasonal jobs winding down it is time to get back to our boat in Mexico for another winter season of cruising.
I'm really coming to appreciate this 'snow bird' (or in our case 'rain birds') lifestyle. You get the best of both worlds when it comes to weather. In the summer we get to reconnect with good friends from home, make a few extra dollars for the winter and then go back to the cruising life which we have come to love in a country that we also love.
We are now on our migration south in our old Honda. This year we had to buy a roof rack to carry back all the goodies we bought at West Marine this summer with my employee discount, as well as all the Blackberry Jam we made while in BC.
We are in San Diego visiting good friends Fred and Penny who we met in 2010 in our first few months of cruising and have stayed in touch with through the years. One of the real treasures of cruising is all the great people you meet.
Tomorrow we should be leaving for Mexico and hopefully be back at our boat in about 3 days time barring any hurricanes or breakdowns. Fingers crossed on both counts. We are so looking forward to being back 'home' on Kasasa.
