Back in Mañana Land

We made it to La Paz on Sunday Oct 13 and beat the heavy rainfall from Tropical Storm Pricisilla by about 12 hours. On Monday we went out to check on the boat and decided to wash her down because of all the sand and dirt that had accumulated over the summer. We were almost finished washing when the rains started to happen and the thunder and lightning. At the first lightning strike I quickly dropped the metal mop handle and made my way back to the cockpit. By the time we finished up the rain was really coming down and so provided a good rinse for the boat.
We are staying at Casabuena B&B for 12 days while we attend to boat chores, the biggest being sanding, repairing and painting the bottom. Since the daily charge to work on your boat is very high here, we opted to pay a bit more and have the marina do it while freeing up Ian's time to work on other projects. We were told 10 days no problema. Well here we are 8 days into the work and the sanding part is only have way done! You can't fight it it's just the Mexican way. They are hard workers but slow workers and don't work the full day it seems. But I do have to say it's really hot here and sanding all day in this heat would be difficult. So we just have to remember where we are and not try to impose our rigid schedules, but that does take a fair amount of patience to do. It will get done but maƱana.
We will be moving aboard in about 3 more days so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the dirty sanding part of the job is finished by then. I'm remaining optimistic that we will be back in the water by the end of the month. At least we will be here for the big Day of the Dead parade that I hear is quite something here in La Paz.
Weather here since after the storm passed has been sunny and hot. We are so looking forward to getting back on the water where it is always slightly cooler. We've been going to some of our favourite places to eat and still have a few more to go. Gina's burgers were at the top of the list with a 28 peso (about $2.40) for one of the tastiest and biggest burgers you will ever see. Yummy.
