Getting Kasasa ready for summer.

Well after 4 weeks and 900 miles we are here in Guaymas! Long trip at 5 miles an hour. We were very lucky with most of the trip in that we had very little if any wind on the nose. We watched our weather windows carefully and a few times we even had wind to sail with. When it was on the nose it was never over 10 knots. It made the first mate very happy as she does not go to windward very well.
The last blog, we were in La Paz. After spending a wonderful week visiting with good friends, and Ellen playing lots of Baja Rummy, we set off on our journey north. From La Paz we went to San Evaristo with a SW wind to sail on. We had a nice visit with Charlotte and Steve from Willful Simplicity who spend most of their time there helping out the village.
Next day we set off intending on going to Agua Verde but we had such good conditions that we kept going into Puerto Escondito. We spent a few days there before heading out for San Juanico. It's one of the more beautiful anchorages and I really wanted to spend a few days exploring it. We were there for 3 nights and did some hiking, fishing and visiting. When we left San Juanico we headed to Punta Chivato where we intended to jump across the sea (80 miles) to Guaymas. When we were at anchor we checked our email and saw that our really good friends Steve and Sue on Kashmira were in Santa Rosalia (27 miles north). So next morning we set out for Santa Rosalia and had a great visit with them. We left that night to cross.
The seas were mirror calm when we left Santa Rosalia but an hour out the winds picked up as did the seas. At least they were from the west and although it was really rolly, we were able to sail for a good part of the night. It calmed down at about 4 am and we motored the rest of the way to Guaymas arriving at 11am. We are now tied up at Fonatur Marina and will be here until we haul out the boat on Monday. Wednesday we fly to La Paz to pick up the car to drive home so stay tuned...
