Tree Top Explorer 2

09 February 2014 | Pakse, Laos
Becky
As we traveled closer to Laos, we heard about zip-lining opportunities in the jungle there.  After some research, we found the Tree Top Explorer, out of Pakse.  It had excellent reviews all around. The center of operations focused on a fabulous waterfall.  We saw the Gibbon and Tiger waterfalls from all perspectives (read Rays post for an example).  Our guides clearly loved their job and how could you not, in such a gorgeous location!  We had picnics on banana leaves that were feasts.  All the food was top notch, some of the best we had in Laos.  Our treehouse was special as well, complete with a flushable western toilet and sink!  No roughing it in this jungle.  Of course, a couple of the kids might say carrying our gear was pretty rough on some of the hikes, but it was more than worth it.  Those hikes lead to exhilarating zip lines - the longest 450m -  spider bridges, abseiling, and rock climbing, besides coffee plantaions on the way in and out.  We also had chances to just relax and enjoy the falls and pools below.  This will be remembered as one of the highlights of our land travel!
