Night Time Fishing

24 February 2013 | Titusville, Florida
Janet
One of the nice things Florida does with most of its many high bridges that cross from the mainland, across the waterway, and out to the barrier islands is provide a lower walkway and access out towards the middle of the channel for fishing. During the day, especially in the early morning, and then in the evening these walkways are filled with people fishing. This one in Titusville was on a relatively new bridge, and it was especially nice. On this evening it was packed with people fishing with long handled nets for catching shrimp as they swam by.The bridge even provides electrical outlets spaced along on both sides of the walkway so the fishermen can submerge underwater lights in the water to see and attract the fish. Apparently the shrimp are on somewhat of a schedule and most of these people are just waiting for them to come swimming by. Those long handles are attached to the nets for scooping them up. It was quite a beautiful sight on this balmy night with the fishing lights in the water, the high bridge lights, and an almost full moon.
