Wyvern's Wanderings
Laundry and Rum
Phyllis Atha
26 March 2012 | Nassau, Bahamas
Charlie directed and I had a part in a one act play called Laundry and Bourbon, thus the title for this entry. Music again last night. Closed the hatches and that toned it down some. We slept intermittently until it stopped sometime this morning. Looking forward to leaving Nassau for a quiet anchorage when Deb and Steve arrive. We had breakfast, then moved the boat a bit closer to the Green Parrot, hoping to get internet on the boat, but it didn't help much. We get it off and on, but not enough to even check the email. We even had to set the anchor three times to get in a spot where we weren't on top of the dredging barge at the Green Parrot or on top of another boat. After we set the anchor the 2nd time, a boat in front of us moved, so we took his spot. Then it was off to the Laundromat which is about a mile or so away. Charlie pulled one cart and I pulled the other. Six loads with all the towels and sheets. Stopped at the liquor store on the way back for the case of rum Charlie ordered and a couple of bottles of Baileys. We got 20 percent off of everything because of the case price. Rum ended up being $6.75 a bottle and I got almost $6.00 off each bottle of Baileys. Before we dinghied back out to the boat, we stopped and split a burger and fries at the Green Parrot. Our second outing was to the east end of the harbor. Charlie needed a computer mouse, so we stopped at the Radio Shack. Tried to get a few odds and ends at the grocery store in the shopping center there, but they didn't have any eggs and the milk expiration date was today. Decided we would go to the convenience store instead, which is just down the road. We will go to our regular grocery store after Deb and Steve arrive to pick up stuff for the next couple of weeks. While we were down that way, we stopped at the marine store. Purchased more 5200 quick set caulking to patch the dinghy again. Picked up some rubber gloves because the On and Off cleaner burns Charlie's hands. Even picked up a replacement choke knob for the outboard that broke again. Did find our eggs, milk and bread at the convenience store. Back to the boat to unload everything. Charlie patched the dinghy again. I put the clean laundry away and made the bed. All in all, a productive day. Canned ravioli for dinner. The weather was quite nice today. Sunny and warm. The wind was from the northwest, about 15 to 18 kts. Tonight is clear, a bit cooler and the wind has subsided some.
