Concrete Quays and Old American Cars

skip thunder!
We had intended to only get as far as Falkenberg on this leg but as the day was dry, and the swell was manageable
just about, we pushed on to Vaberg, where we arrived about 8pm. It is pretty grotty, with dirty quays and big
tyres on the walls, and for this you pay 250 Swedish Kronor a night!!! (that's about £23). Ok in comparison to the
south coast of the UK, but not great in reality for what they provide. We should probably
have left this morning without paying, but our honesty gene kicked in. I think nearly all of the other boats haven't paid.
Oh well. Wind is light today but on the nose, so we'll probably have to motor to our next spot, a sheltered
anchorage 20 miles south of Gotenborg.
Last night when we went to find money here in Vaberg, we were treated to a procession of old American convertible
cars belting out swedish rap at high volume, a buick, and an immaculate Eldorado with a lilac metallic flake paint job,
were two I recognised.
We have to wait until tomorrow to find out if we may have to make a dash back to the UK. The hot water in our
rented house has stopped working, and it may mean an extortionate repair bill which would be cheaper for me to
fly back and do rather than pay a rip off tradesman. That is why we are moving closer to Gotenburg so that if
necessary I can jump on a plane. The last time we were quoted £1500, and I fixed it in less than half a day, for £400!!
Ahh the joys of being a landlord!
