There's a hole in my bucket...

Well then, we had yet another 250 bill to fix our less than 3 year old Ebspacer heater.......... That is a total of 1350 (that's over 2500$ US) on repairs....................................... and it is not even 3 yet. Therefore we are seriously considering a 'little cod' woodburner in the saloon.......... http://www.marinestove.com/codinfo.htm
And make do in the aft cabin. (or perhaps use a bulkhead mounted charcoal burner.... http://www.bengco.co.uk/ )
This is just not sensible to run and espar heater as a liveaboard. It isn't designed to be used day in day out.
What would you do if your house boiler broke every six months to a year......... ? Rant finished!!!!!!!!!!!
I did think about a Refleks diesel stove, but like the idea of a woodburner........ just using driftwood and that's free heating and what can break on something with no moving parts??????? Although it means carrying charcoal / wood as well as diesel that is no bad thing is it?
I'd be interested to hear from other liveaboards, unless of course you have an Espar that hasn't broken in the last 10 years of continuous use?! What do you use to heat the boat? If you are a liveaboard in Canada or northern USA, what do you do during the winter, especially if you have a centre cockpit and aft cabin boat?
Well that's reflections on heating...........
Now the plumbing.......... Took a week off work to redo our plumbing (as if we could get it complete in ten days, who am I kidding?!) only to find that we've got a really leaking starboard belly tank in our Peterson 44. Joy oh joy, that means ripping up the floor! And cutting through the substrate, not to mention the 500 for the tank............... grrrrrrrrr! One day I'll have replaced everything and then there will only be wear and tear on the boat...... We weren't going to do it but considering just how much it is leaking I think we should get on and do it. That way we may eventually get to the dusty dry bilge point.... Wow!
Right then I'm off to find the tank removal instructions on the Peterson web site. Toodle pip
