Dover to Eastbourne

Not the best day at sea today, not that anything went wrong, it was just dull and it was really chilly - my left foot didn't warm up all day despite my Extrematies winter socks!
The night at anchor was ok, apart from being woken every so often with an extra big roll from ferry wash. We headed off with tide with us, but wind variable and mostly on the nose. The wind stayed that way all day, picking up to F5 occasionally.
So it was motoring all the way, the clouds cleared for a while to leave hazy sun, but it never felt warm until we were tied up in the lock at Eastbourne. Talking of the lock, I've decided to get more experience maneuvering Emerald in close quarters, so here was my chance for my first lock entry. Perfectly we were the first in so I had plenty of lock pontoon to aim at, although all the people watching from the lock sides didn't help. Anyway, it all went well, no dings or anything. The pontoon we'd been allocated was a long hammerhead so I had it easy today!
