Vilagarcia de Arousa to San Vincent del Mar; 18nm travelled

02 September 2013 | San Vincent del Mar, O Grove, Spain
Nichola / Hot and sunny
Too many choices of where to go! As the weather was calm we decided on San Vincent del Mar, an anchorage off a beach just out of the ria. It halved the distance to our next destination and had a walk described as stunning! We bimbled down the ria with genny only doing 3-4 knots in light winds and blue skies. Around the peninsula of O Grove and between red and green buoys with the beach ahead. One other boat here and lots of space.

Colin gave me a lift to the beach (he has a sore foot) which was packed with locals. Jumping off the dinghy into the shallows I discovered the water was very cold - ice cream feet!

The boardwalk starts just the other side of the small marina and winds it's way around coves and beaches to Punta Miranda. Giant boulders line the route, sculptured by nature into weird and wonderful shapes. Where a rock was in the way of the boardwalk, they have cut the planks to flow around the rock. Maybe not stunning but a pleasant walk with lovely views which took about 11/2 hours there and back.

As the sun set the wind increased off the land and blew most of the night mainly F4 but occasionally gusting F5. It wasn't uncomfortable and the anchor held well, it wasn't forecasr so we're guess it was a night time land breeze caused by the land cooling down after sun set.
