Cala Binirras to Cala Charraco; 4nm travelled

20 June 2014 | Cala Charraco, Ibiza
Nichola / warm and sunny
This morning we made an earlyish start to try to find somewhere more peaceful and headed for Cala Charraco 4nm north. As we rounded a headland we could see only 4 boats on the east side of the large bay. We headed for the west corner as a swell was coming in making the east side a bit rolly. Those 4 boats left, a couple of others came and went and now there are just 4 boats in this corner, including Red Snapper and Riverdancer who have caught us up. I wonder what keeps the others away? There are a couple of beach bars ashore, some sandy bays and plenty of space so I don't know why they don't come here. Maybe the holding which is over rocky, weedy ground? Whatever it is, I'm glad we have it mostly to ourselves.

Charraco
Look at all that lovely space!

If it wasn't for today I would have been pretty grumpy with Ibiza. The Charraco anchorage has changed my mind, especially after a day swimming, walking and paddling my kayak around the coves. Its the people we've encountered rather than the place itself that has got to me; we don't want to spend our days having to protect Emerald from others. Perhaps we've just been unlucky in meeting the worst of the bunch, although it isn't even high season yet!
