Hey all, i know you've all been fretting about the freezer temp. I'm pleased to say it has dropped to a chilly 7F!!! which is -14deg C in real temperature. Your domestic freezer is probably -15deg C and will keep food happily for 3 to 6 months, so looks like we're getting there..... still hoping to get down to 5F or -15 deg C by the weekend. Exciting isn't it!
Also note the picture of our wonderful electricity free lights, charged by solar, limited power draw LED bulbs, with an on off switch and light sensor switch so you can't leave them on in daylight accidentally. They are made out of good quality stainless. I think barring impact damage or theft they will last a good 5 to 10 years. Our plan is to put one on each entrance to boat (port/starboard and aft boarding ladder) and one on dinghy as cheap all round white nav light. (well it's better than nothing).
I'm looking forward to the weekend as we're off to get some weather fax software, and some computer software that'll run our pactor modem for winlink email. that'll mean we can post remotely, pretty much anywhere in world! providing we can get the boat working at all!!!!! and actually leave our berth. I think we may just go do the engine trials without any sails just to run it in.
