A little piece of Histoire

where is summer?!
Memories
This is a photo from 1994, of the recovery of the original Pourquoi Pas memorial plaque from Petermann Island, Antarctica, (6510'S, 6409'W)left there in 1908-1910 expedition.
The four people are left to right:
Colin Wright
Simon Almond
Steve Cuthbertson
John Taylor
We were all stationed at Faraday base in the Argentine Islands over this period. We believe this plaque was replaced in the 2003/2004 season by a replica. This original is now in the archives of the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle (Paris)
This photo is just before the plaque left the island for the first time in over 80 years. Thanks to Steve C who reminded me of our place in history.
Boat Update
Well the master blaster is finished! We've stripped the mast, shot blasted it, and painted it with over 10 litres of paint. Our next job is to refit all the components! Realistically we'll be re-stepping it at the end of August at the earliest.
Next after that is to lead the lines back to the cockpit. Sort out a stak-pack and fit the kicking strap (Vang).
Retirement
Well I've only 16 days of gainful employment left, then I'll be able to crack on with the job list ready to escape the gravitational pull of Brighton Marina, with escape velocity being reached in April/May 2009.
