What has become very apparent over the last few days rocking around on the open ocean is that sexual innuendos are not only very amusing but also particularly appropriate to long watches on a sailing boat. Both watches amused with images of caressing boats to windward around Catalina, aiming for curvaceous sail shapes and struggling to find a way forward ;-). I will leave a certain amount to your imaginations yet remain confident that you can come up with a few (comments welcome!)...

It has also become very apparent is that this year's Transpac is like no other...

From a weather perspective, we have been in incredibly lights winds (so far) - where there should have been a Pacific high, there has been a persistent low. Therefore, the more traditional southerly route might leave us sailing further than the more northerly boats.

It has been 8/8 cloud cover since we left Los Angeles and the crew can only hope that as we approach the trade winds, and latterly Hawaii that the clouds will part revealing our nearest star gleaming at us. With solid cloud cover and featureless nights steering a good course has been tricky...

On the food front, there is only a certain number of times that one can eat a cabbage salad - and that number was today when another cabbage and left-over pork salad appeared from the galley!

From innuendos, weather and food, you can understand when I say that none of these appear in the brochure! Otherwise all is well on the good Ship Zephyr... G(P)B
