Quite a different walk today, kept me forgetting where I was. We walked the entire day through corn fields, where every road we saw went down more rows of corn fields. Was I in Iowa or Spain? I would forget until we would come upon another hiker and the friendly hiker greeting was exchanged "been Camino" everyone would say to each other, "good hike". It was misty all day and threatening rain. Our destination was an Alberque recommended by another hiker. As we approached the town it was in the rain was on our heels. We found the Alberque and couldn't believe our good fortune. It was the perfect place to spend a rainy evening. It was a home, not just a room full of beds. There was a beautiful old fashioned open fireplace where they had a fire going. Hikers were gathered around in the overstuffed chairs and couch and a large table was set for dinner. It was a family affair with grandma and grandpa cooking dinner and the hosts making themselves part of the group. We ended up sitting by a woman from Hungary and a man from Belgium who were doing the trail together. We instantly enjoyed their company and spent the rest of the night sharing stories with them. This would end up being our favorite place........so varrry warm and fuzzy.
