What Survives!

The Twisted Trees are lone survivors out here. Do they ever rot, someday maybe. They are fascinating the way they get twisted up from the wind.

The Seclusion

We found some!!! Seclusion that is. So far my experience in the Canyonlands has been different than I expected. The vastness, the beauty, that's all been inline with what I thought but I was expecting to be off more in the wilderness, away from the people. Even though the park is pretty unknown in the [...]

The Hoodoos

Hike With Richard

Mary
One day we were walking along the road heading out of town when a young local man on his bike came along side us and started chatting. Hearing we were visitors he decided there were a few sites we needed to see and he was the one to take us to them. He was delightful, struggling to want badly to use his English and me filling in the gaps with my Spanish and Dougs now increasing vocabulary we had a wonderful afternoon seeing the remains of some old grinding mills in the forest powered by the river running through them. We walked past the gathering place of a car rally about to begin (a popular sport in Europe) and the park of memories. He told us about the clam festival and the mountain trails and then he vanished as fast as he came just excited to have shared his town with us. Thank you Richard for that experience.
