What Survives!

The Twisted Trees are lone survivors out here. Do they ever rot, someday maybe. They are fascinating the way they get twisted up from the wind.

The Seclusion

We found some!!! Seclusion that is. So far my experience in the Canyonlands has been different than I expected. The vastness, the beauty, that's all been inline with what I thought but I was expecting to be off more in the wilderness, away from the people. Even though the park is pretty unknown in the [...]

The Confluence

The Historic Point of destination today led us to the Confluence where the Green river from and the Colorado river from Colorado meet in the center of the Canyonlands and join to be the Colorado river which runs through the Grand Canyon in Arizona. This ten mile round trip hike was said to be over flat [...]

The Hoodoos

The majority of the Needles area of the park is covered in rock formations called the Hoodoos, An overview here shows these mushroom looking structures. The needles are condensed in one dense section but the Hoodoos sprawl out to cover the rest of the Needles section of the park.

Seven Hours, Really?

04 November 2017 | Seville, Spain
Mary
Oh my GOSH, how much history can one take in a day. We have taken a total of 5 tours since I have known Doug, 4 walking and 1 biking. Its always a tough decision whether to take a tour or not. One could spend a fortune taking a tour at every new place one visits. We usually base the decision on whether we feel we can get enough out of an area by ourselves or feel there is something unique about the history of the place a guide could bring out. We felt a bike tour might be the way to see what Seville was all about. What we saw on our own had us anxious for more. Did I say we ended up biking for 7 hours, learning enough to last me a long time in the history department. We signed up for 3 hour tour with Antonio so what changed? Antonio and the fact that Doug and I were the only ones that showed up, and that a three of us had all day free. Antonio gave us a private tour of that entire city. He didn't want us to miss a thing. He spoke English as fast as he spoke Spanish and that being faster than we Americans speak English! His stories were fascinating both of the city and himself. He took pictures of us by all the important buildings to email us and gave us recommendations for local tapa bars and music. If you ever get to Seville look up Antonio at the Seeby bike shop.
