What Survives!

The Twisted Trees are lone survivors out here. Do they ever rot, someday maybe. They are fascinating the way they get twisted up from the wind.

The Seclusion

We found some!!! Seclusion that is. So far my experience in the Canyonlands has been different than I expected. The vastness, the beauty, that's all been inline with what I thought but I was expecting to be off more in the wilderness, away from the people. Even though the park is pretty unknown in the [...]

The Confluence

The Hoodoos

No More Busses, Please

02 February 2018 | La Gomera, Canary Islands
Mary
Since arriving in the Madeira Islands and the Canary Island we have been very pleased with the bussing system, really. Regular coach busses go all over the island and for only a few Euro. They are great, really but my nerves cant take it anymore. I will sail across oceans, fly on small planes, walk in dark caves but these bus rides could be the death of me. They fly around these hairpin turns and ride so close to the cliff, not to mention passing each other on the narrow roads, I swear I am not going to survive another one. The best I can do is close my eyes and hold onto the handle which they so nicely provide on the back of the seat in front of me. I think if the whole bus would hike on the high side they we do in sailing it would be a lot safer!
