Plans change.

We had planned to stop and anchor in Still Pond over night and arrive home on Sunday. However, when we checked the weather this morning before leaving the marina, we found that we would have winds in our face all day in the high teens. We motored down the Chesapeake Bay all day and, with help from our friend Tom, were docked in our slip in Queens Landing by 4pm. This was a great trip. We saw family and friends along the way, stopped in many interesting places, even the historic Mulford Farm Homestead from the 1680's, but we are also happy to be home. The Captain and the Admiral

Cape May to Summit North Marin, C&D Canal

We were under way at first light again. We went around the shoals at the Cape May Point and headed up the Delaware Bay. By accident, we had the incoming tide with us all the way to the C &D Canal, which connects the Delaware Bay with the Chesapeake Bay. We are in a slip in Summit North Marina, where we spent the afternoon at the pool and had a nice dinner and drinks in the on site Restaurant. The Captain What a fast boat we have! We are almost home. Last Marina of the trip. One anchorage tomorrow. The Admiral

Atlantic City to Cape May.

We woke up this morning planning to stay another day at Golden Nugget Casino because of the winds and waves of Hurricane Chris. Turned out all the slips are spoken for for the next two nights. With a little trepidation, at 20 after 9am we motored out into the ocean and turned south. We found seas that were a little rolly, but no pounding, and the wind was at our back. We turned into the Cape May channel at 2 pm and were anchored off the Cape May Coast Guard Station by 2:30. This is a no wake zone and the boaters seem to respect that. We plan for another 5am departure with a hope to get a slip in a marina in the middle of the C & D Canal. The Captain. Beautiful spot here for boat watching! Huge fishing boats came in with people on the bow scrubbing the windshield. Small sailboats were going by, reminiscent of lake sailing back in the day. Don't forget the jet skis and coast guard boats. All in all, an interesting Anchorage. The Admiral

Boating on our 47th Anniversary!

We were up and out of the mooring field before 5am. We rounded the tip of Sandy Hook and spent the next 12 hours motoring down the Jersey coast to Atlantic City. The last hour and a half we had to slow down in the bigger waves. We are safely docked in the Farley State Marina which is run by Golden Nugget [...]

Atlantic Highlands

We were moving by 5am this morning to time the tide at Hell Gate on the East River. The advice from the Boat US rep at City Island was right on. We were on a mooring in Atlantic Highlands Marina at 10am. We took a launch ride in after lunch, walked the dock area and much of the town, and were back on [...]

Port Washington, NY

Very pleasant ride from Port Jefferson to Port Washington in calm seas. We are back in view of the NY skyline. Took on 40 gallons of diesel, washed the boat, filled the water tanks, and we are leaving the dock at 5am to fight the East River and Hell Gate currents. Next stop a mooring in the Atlantic [...]

The last hour and a half we had to slow down in the bigger waves. We are safely docked in the Farley State Marina which is run by Golden Nugget Casino. We are staying at least 2 nights and will keep an eye on Hurricane Chris's trip north for our travel home plans. We had our anniversary dinner on the deck overlooking the G N Marina. The Captain. Atlantic Highlands was so cute. Adorable houses nestled into the trees with a view of Manhattan. But what the heck is Bruce talking about? Slowing down for bigger waves? It was 20 knot winds and 4 foot waves. Man, the boat was slamming. We are still married, though. The Admiral
