Up at 5:30 so we could complete our final leg home before the expected northerly winds. Hoping to make the 17:00 bridge opening and tie to the RSL club wharf

Happy Australia Day!

Left Ulladulla at 4:15 as we have 90 nm to Port Hacking. Flew up the coast at 8 knots pushed along by a SE wind and by staying in close a northerly current.

Arrived at Port Hacking at 16:30 but the marina was full so I anchored at the head of Gunnamatta shore.

Went ashore and watched the Ten Tenors on the Cronulla foreshore while we waited for Joe who arrived by train from Newcastle st 20:30 to join us. The celebrations finished off with a spectacular fireworks display.

Returned to the boat and had a tradition nice lamb shank for my Australia Day dinner.

Day 289 Wednesday 25/1/17
Wind SW 15-20 Sea 2m

Left Bermagui at 6:30 and headed north being pushed along with the remainder of the southerly. Wind swung around to the NE at midday. Stayed in close to avoid the current. Gave the upside of the boat a polish on the way.

Arrived at Ulladulla at 17:00 and tied up to the fishermans outer wharf. Walked up to the local ALDI and bought a case of beer and some prawns.

Had dinner onboard and watched some of the big bash semi finals.

Day 288 Tuesday 24/1/17
Wind SW 15-30 Sea 2m

Set out for Bermagui at 5:00 so we could beat the southerly coming up the coast this morning.
Glued some timber that had detached in the saloon.

Arrived at midday and tied up to the fisherman's wharf. Rocky the manager helped us tie up. Filled the boat up with fuel which should be the last refuel for this trip.

Went for a walk around the town, bought a few groceries and then had a siesta.

Tightened the SB inner stay and bought some new split pins from the local chandlery. Walked under to the blue pool which is an ocean baths on the point.

Booked into Il Passaggio (The Passage) Italian restaurant which seemed appropriate and was also conveniently located in the marina complex for dinner.

Day 285 Saturday 20/1/17
Wind SW 15-20 Sea 2m

Darren and Steve came onboard to have a look at 2Dream and then we had a look at Verve. Verve is big inside and set up for catering for 40+ people.

Headed back to Lakes Entrance and after saying goodbye we headed out the entrance at 14:00 and set sail for Eden.

As predicted the wind gradually died and we ended up motoring.

Cooked up so rissoles for dinner but Angela had only toast. Watch another few episodes of Star Wars to keep me awake during the night.

Day 286 Sunday 21/1/17
Wind SW 5-10 Sea 2m

Angela took over at 6:00 while I graded an hours sleep.

Arrived at Eden around 10:00 and tied up on the mooring wharf. The water police gave us a hand to tie up as they were attending to a derelict boat next to us which had been abandoned by its owner. Bought some fresh prawns off a local trawler.

Went for a walk under the hill to the town centre and had coffee and cake. Got some details about hiring a car from the tourist information office.

Had a siesta to catch up in some sleep and then went for another walk around the headland.

Had some salmon and prawns for dinner.

Had to put out all the fenders to keep us off the wharf.

Day 287 Monday 22/1/17
Wind SW 15-20 Sea 2m

Paid our mooring fees to the wharf manager Jonho who was originally from Wangi Wangi. Had coffee at the wharf cafe and rang up about a hire car but alas there were none available.

Went for a long walk around the lagoon instead and then had a nice cold berry smoothy at the local cafe.

Had another siesta and then fixed some timber that had become unstuck.

Met the crew of a 50' barvarian who berthed and then had to raft up next to the derelict boat when a trawler kicked them off their berth.

Lamb shank for dinner-yum.
