Brother Ed, a master woodworker, donating his skills and time to help fit her out. Too bad I can't chain him to the jackstand until she's complete!

Repairing the mast base. The Seafarer had an earlier modification/repair to the underside of the step plate. The mast was cut down approximately two inches to remove oxidation and a two inche marine ply plate was cut to the shape of the base and attached with expoxy, then painted. Over the years, the paint cracked and peeled exposing the wood ply base causing it to rot. The old wood was cut out and a new plate was made from solid resin (molded from a plug) and fit. My buddy Amel is putting the final touches on before handing off to to me to finish smooth and top coat.

prep for paint - huge undertaking considering the amount of spider cracks. Removing all the deck hardware is the only way to go if want to do the job right. Total prep time - 90+ hours.
