Equator Crossing!
22 May 2010 | North of the Equator

Whooo Hooo, back in the northern hemisphere! I crossed the equator at 5:30 this afternoon and it was a very exciting milestone. This is almost exactly half way home and there is something about being on the north side of the equator that makes me feel suddenly closer.
The winds are very light and forecast to die for the next couple of days, so I may have a bit of time to celebrate here in on the equator.
I had a surprise visit earlier from a huge hammerhead shark that swam by and perused the boat. There is something very scary about sharks out here in the really deep ocean and I had a real adrenalin jolt when I first saw it alongside. Maybe that was just a lasting scar from seeing Jaws at the Bay Theater when it first came out, what were my parents thinking?
