Gone Sailing / Abigail Grace - RFYC to Ft. Myers

Sharing the Lock with a Mega Yacht
We departed RFYC just after 09:00. Our destination "Fort Myers". With our lines untied we navigated back through the narrow canal to the ICW. We continued west a 1/4 mile to our 1st lock of the day. Although we had arrived at the lock in no-time we had to wait for an east bound boat to transit the lock. As we waited, we jockeyed positions with a huge mega yacht "Savior-faire". The lock master requested Savior-faire enter the lock 1st and for us to follow once Savior-faire was secured. Savior-faire departed the lock first and was soon out of site. As we continued westwardly we passed several boats, a water skier, people fishing, beautiful homes and landscapes. We also navigated another lock and several bridges (before reaching Ft. Myers we had navigated 2 locks and more than 6 bridges). Before we knew it, Fort Myers was in site. We had made reservations at the Fort Myers City Marina and were tied off in our slip by 4:30. Other than our delay at the lock our trip was uneventful and scenic. Just the way we like it - esp. the uneventful part.
