Not what I'd imagined
05 February 2013
I think Judy was pretty brave joining two novice cruisers on their maiden shake down. Things were breaking down (as they do on a boat), the watermaker didn't work, batteries weren't charging, instruments and their workings were still a mystery, dirty engine oil all over everything and techniques needing much improvement. Three showers in two weeks isn't even imaginable for most landlubbers! Water that tastes like the medicine we were given as children - not pleasant at all. Ragged nerves and temper tantrums made life on board pretty untenable. Juds came as our guest, not crew or passage maker. It was supposed to be a lovely holiday for her. It wasn't. However, with Stapleton stoicism, Juds managed to turn the bad times into good and we did have some fun as we always do when we get together. I love my sister and will always appreciate her for being just the way she is - the best sister ever. Thanks Juds for making the best of it, smiling when I was not and I'm sorry it wasn't as I'd imagined it would be.
