A Miserble Life
07 April 2013 | San Evaristo, BCS, Mexico
Surprise! It's sunny today!
As you can tell from the photo, the Admiral hates the cruising life. Doesn't she look miserable? You can see the village of San Evaristo in the background. You can also see the corner of one of the solar panels. We have 6 solar panels for a total of 660 watts. They provide all the power we need to run the boat, including the biggest consumer, the refrigerator/freezer. We have plenty of power so we can listen to music in the evening.
We are enjoying San Evaristo. The people seem reserved until we speak to them in Spanish. We are anchored near the beach, in still tiny fishing village, and we frequently hear people break out into spontaneous singing! Nothing planned. Someone just begins singing loudly, often while working or walking down the beach. They live in the middle of nowhere, have nothing - and they sing! When was the last time you saw someone break out into spontaneous singing while walking down the street?
We went to town and bought veggies and some Valencia oranges for orange juice and some limes for Margaritas. Juicy Valencia oranges cost about 25 cents a pound and make the best orange juice! I went fishing and caught a Tiger Striped Rockfish. Many beautiful reef fish. That evening we ate fish tacos from the fish I caught. That evening I brought out my smallest jigs and Vicki & I caught 8 Latin Grunts and Big Eye Scad before deciding to quit. I filleted them and Vicki prepared 4 fish tacos packages for the freezer.
Of course, we had another westerly Coromuel. Bouncy seas. Nothing dangerous since we are sheltered from westerly seas, just uncomfortable. Our weather has been unusually bad for this time of year. I was up every hour checking the anchor, etc.
It's a Wonderful Life - on Adesso!
