Sailing with Bob & Vickie

We left St. John’s Yacht Harbor at 7:35 AM it was cool in the morning but the temperature finally reached 70 degrees. The scenery was swampy and very little signs of habitation other than birds. I kept watching for alligators but none were sighted. Occasionally, we reach an inlet where we view the Atlantic and dolphins are playing nearby in the shallow water. Our next stop is Dataw Island Marina, a few miles off the Intracoastal Waterway and it looks like a sanctuary for wildlife. Currentlly the tide here is seven feet and as recently as a couple weeks ago it was ten feet., this is a huge factor that plays into the strong currents. We settle in to watch TV, the digital channels our homemade antenna has picked up during this trip is amazing – better than home, and Bob is cooking on the grill. Our surroundings and the sky provide the perfect setting for dinner. Tomorrow we should arrive at Beaufort, SC where we will rent a car, pack our stuff, tour the city, clean Serendipity and prepare for our trip home this weekend. We have been gone since August 27th and we almost regret it is ending but we do miss our family and friends. Today we want to remember our veterans and service members and thank them for all their sacrifices!
