Sailing with Bob & Vickie

Feb 13th - We leave Vero Beach at 8:15 AM today and are excited to be travelling new territory. Serendipity has never been this far south but she is blazing a new trail! The ICW is wider than usual and very pretty, at Ft Pierce the water turns a beautiful color. At 1:10 PM we arrive at Nettles Island Marina- Bob beautifully executes the slip and the dockhands are super and definitely know what they are doing. This looks like a fun place - tiki huts, bar, small grocery and we are close to the ocean and beach. Captain Bob was even awarded a new hat. People are enjoying cocktails in a tiki hut watching the Olympics. We plan to be here for a couple days to relax and explore the area. We tackled laundry on the boat with our manually operated washer and electric spinner and it actually does a pretty good job. Serendipity is surrounded by pilings and each piling seems to have it's own pelican. They are beautiful - took lots of pictures. After visiting with my Connie Jo, Bob insisted on going out to dinner at Sauder's Restaurant here in the marina - 1st class place - outside seating - awesome food and wonderful service - thanks again Alexa.
Feb 14th - Happy Valentine's Day to our followers! We are up early (at least it is for Vickie) and take a long bike ride near the Ocean at Jensen Beach where we frequently park the bikes to walk out on the beach. People are playing in the water, fishing from chairs situated along the beach and enjoying this beautiful beach - the water is a vibrant blue and the waves complete the picture. There is something so serene about watching the powerful waves rolling in the azure (Bob's word) blue water. We are back on the boat and loving our surroundings. Tomorrow we venture farther south - looking really forward to the Clawsons boarding our vessel for some adventures and R & R.
