Yeah! We did it!
Early on New Years Day, we gathered, stretched and warmed up in the rays for the annual New Years Dive in Bonaire! The mission was to retrieve one of the three numbered inflatable tubes, each bearing a prize. The tubes were set free and the West setting Christmas winds blew them away rapidly! About a hundred of us competitors ran into the sea at the blow of a whistle to be the first!
I gave up half way (the wind was blowing the tubes faster than we could swim!) Lisa our competitive teen however did not give up so quickly! She recieved third prize ( breakfast for 2 @ the resort)!
I swam perpendicular to the crowd towards our anchored dinghy and raced to retrieve the exhausted swimmers hundreds of yards out, this gave me a prize as well! (breakfast for 2!) So the next morning it was a well deserved FREE breakfast buffet! What a fun day! The whole event was sponsored by UNOX, some Dutch campbells soup company, but the hats were cool. wadya think?
Anyway, I have managed to repair the motor, new waterpump, ouch! expensive...we need some more competitions for free food!!!
We leave for Curacao tomorrow! Happy new year to all and thank you for your replies! always fun to hear from you!
cheers
