Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum
We took a tour of the museum today. It was a nice showcase of what the Chesapeake was and is all about. There were a lot of old wooden boats that were mainly work boats from the past. They also had a lighthouse that was moved from further down the bay. The picture was taken from the top of it at a couple of the boats in the museum. The larger one is called a skipjack and was used for oystering. We spent a couple of days in the Kent Narrows waiting out strong winds and high tides. The winds and near full moon the last few days have pushed a lot of water up the bay and flooded a lot of low areas. We are not sure when the winds will die down so the water will go down and we can get out on the bay and hopefully sail. Today was the coldest day so far. We got up and it was down to 53 degrees and got up to only about 63 or so. It is supposed to go up again into the 70's so we will stay for a couple more weeks before we put the boat away and go home and wax our skis.

Working our way south
We are at the mouth of the Patapsco River which leads into Baltimore. Yesterday and today the winds howled. Too much for Bungalow. Most of the time the winds are not blowing at all. Tomorrow we want to go into Baltimore and go to a trawler (slow power boats) show. We got to go up in a light house at Havre De Grace which pleased Pauline. She is studying the Fresnel lens at the top. Cool but too high for me. I held on tight.

Almost to NYC
We had a beautiful day today. Light winds and no humidity and a favorable current aided us in making it from Kingston NY to West Point without feeling over done like the last couple of days. Tomorrow we hope to be at the 79th Street Marina on the west side of Manhattan. Here is a picture of the view at anchor. Impressive. Knock on wood for us as everything has been working well on the boat. We plan on taking a couple of days off while the boat is in NYC and visit family and friends.
