Road Trip - Lake Tahoe

We finally got away from the dock, unfortunately not on the boat. It just seems to be way too much effort to go for a day sail and the wind has been very high. But the engine is running like a Swiss sewing machine, and the transmission is in peak condition. We've had such high winds, we decided to stow the sails after inventorying them. We're in good shape there, with lots of good sails and even back ups for backups. Good news! Next up are two more solar panels. We have a guy in the marina who manufactures and sells them and will give us a great price. So we want those for the winter.
So, we took a few days and drove to Lake Tahoe. Jonathan hasn't seen this part of the country. As for our luck, there was a fire up there, but it didn't really impact our trip. We stopped in Grass Valley for the old time town on Friday night and then went to see Nevada City. The old mining towns are really fun to wander through. We finally got to Tahoe around noon on Sunday and proceeded to the "tunnel tour" where the 'rat pack and the mob' evaded the FBI raids. It was fascinating and the vibes down there were incredible. We had a blast. Saw Marilyn Monroe's own cottage and just felt what it must have been like throughout that period. Too cool!
We drove around the lake and went to Virginia City and almost to Reno but decided enough was enough. Altogether, it was a fun trip and great to get away from the dock and Sausalito. Otherwise, it was back to the daily grind on Wednesday and we have the Labor Day weekend to get through. It's hard being in this town when there are big events (international art festival) because you can't move the car and get a parking space. The harbor doesn't have it's own parking lot so life gets a little "difficult." I am attaching a few photos from the trip. Take care and be well.
