Memories of Margalo

A quick homage to our darling Margalo. It is with bittersweet joy that we sold our wonderful boat, a 1983 Catalina 30 that we bought from our good friend Peter (grew up together sailing and schooling together). Our family so enjoyed sailing up and down the Chesapeake for 3 years! Fondest memories (still fresh!) of Friday night races, overnights at anchor, ARC DELMARVA 2015, and lazy days on the Bay! Margalo is the name of the bird in Stuart Little that reciprocates life saving adventures with Stuart. We thank God for our safe travels and pray that new owner Stan will continue to enjoy her as we did! I did a tremendous amount of work on the boat and learned a great deal in a short period of time. SOLD! 1983 Catalina 30 Excellent condition Refit in 2015
$10k in upgrades over past two years. Tall mast deep draft (5'7") model. Galley, sleeps 6. Boat maintained professionally at Hinckly Yachts with new rigging and bottom painted in 2015. Engine: • Engine is Universal X25 diesal in excellent condition • Maintained professionally by licensed mechanic • New transmission Hurth replacement in 2015 • Shaft seal replaced 2013 • Shift knobs replaced 2014 Additional Interior Features: • Includes hotwater heater in port lazarette locker • 2 burner gimballed stove, good condition and rarely used • newly installed Lowrence GPS. includes depth, SOG and fish finder • 2 new Deka Marine Master batteries (2014) • 2012 interior cushion covers replaced. Foam in excellent condition, stored inside home and used sparingly on boat. • Jabsco toilet, excellent condition, shower and teak in great shape • Accessories include winch handles, speakers, Sony radio/CD system, VHF • 2013 new bilge pump and float switch (Bilge is dry) Possible Improvements for New Purchaser to Note: • exterior teak left to grey naturally per our preference • home made propane locker should be replaced (if you choose to leave propane tank on board) • new switch and fuse needed for water pressure circuit • Service winches (kit included) • Grease Edson steering system Boat is well cared for and loved. Purchased as a family cruising boat in 2013. We have purchased a larger boat to accomodate our large family and sadly must part with this one. It was inspected and approved for Arc Delmarva passage June 2015. Boat has been sailed regularly and winterized yearly. Great condition, ready to go!
