Flight of Aghavni

a Topjian family traveling journey

Fish ON!

Gulf Stream trolling leads to our first monster fish on Aghavni! After previous fruitless fishing forays over the last few trips, Van's line hit this beautiful Mahi Mahi (Dorado or dolphin fish) about 200 miles from Bahamas.

It helped spending time online and talking to salty pro fisherman about strategy and lure placement/selection for sailboats. The key is speed, color/type of lure, and positioning of rods with a cross formation and "teaser" at the boat. It paid off! This was caught with a pink squid plug which we hit right away. We also caught another one but it was on the hand-line and by the time I got half way through pulling it in, the hook snapped clean off.

And as we like most of our animals medium rare aboard this boat, it was absolutely delicious!

The beauty of these fish in their element is breathtaking. Words or photos can't describe it. A real testament to Gods perfect design!
