PM: Preventative Maintenance.

Inspecting the bilge systems on the boat leads me to find this salty, corroded mess in the whale bilge pump. Parts ordered today and repairs will be soon underway. This is the 3rd bilge pump in our boat. First to operate is the typical "Rule" pump with float switch, next (and above the first pump) is our monster emergency backup pump, and then this one, made by Whale, which runs with manual pumping from cockpit.

The first "Rule" pump has a high water alarm so we can immediately know of any water intrusion. We also just installed a new counter to it so we can see how many times the pump has run if we are away from the boat or under passage.
