Nightwatch
17 July 2018
Mamabear taking her share of nightwatch as we travel overnight up the coast. This is the first time we don't really have to go abovedeck and do a 360 view as the fog reduces visibility to about 100ft from the boat in each direction. So, other than making sail adjustments and deck checks, most of the watch is spent below. Unfortunately no starry nights since the Nantucket leg. We are relying heavily on AIS to identify other vessels but mostly our 4G radar system which has been spot on so far. Much more accurate than our chartplotter and we're building confidence each time as we move through the mist. It's unique to see even the smaller boats here are equipped with extensive radar systems.
