Chesapeake!

All tucked in and anchored tonight in a cove on our beloved Chesapeake Bay!

Left Cape May at 7am and made a 114 mile run up the Delaware Bay, through the C&D Canal, and finally into the Chesapeake Bay.

There is a wonderful tide/current push that if timed properly, can be favorable through NJ/Delaware/MD. We timed it perfect so we enjoyed the "Magic Carpet Ride" of 2+ knots the entire way. It was warmly welcomed as it was a motorboat day today with no wind.

Unfortunately, there is a great deal of debris in the Bay water from the opening of the Conowingo Dam last week. We had been reading about it all summer as it has been in the news affecting fisheries, commercial/recreational use, etc. It is a sad state of affairs but a lot of rain and excess sediment buildup has overloaded the dam. When they open it, all the junk from multiple states like sediment, runoff, fertilizers, comes flooding down the Bay. Here's a great article highlighting the top issue facing the clean-up of the Chesapeake Bay:
