Trial Run!
31 January 2019
It is regularly suggested that first time skippers through the Panama Canal take the trip as a linehandler on another boat as a sort of "dry run" to get a feel for the experience of making the transit.
In all honesty, I wasn't planning on doing it but when a beautifully maintained, elegant Oyster 625 pulled into the marina, I couldn't resist!
So, I was blessed to join the crew of Uhuru, on a 30 hour ride from the Atlantic to the Pacific!
It was quite an experience and I am ever so grateful that I made the decision to go. Even better that it was a spectacular boat and pleasant crew.
Thank you team Uhuru!
I'm proud of mamabear for holding down the fort at the marina and keeping all systems operating well. Spirits are high as we prepare for our crossing in a few days...
