Rabi

Next stop is the island of Rabi (pronounced Rambi). Hanging out with the local crew playing volleyball, clapping games, and rugby!
Residents have now been granted Fijian citizenship, but unfortunately have a dark past of being taken advantage of by British empire phosphate interests. They are originally from Banaban, an area of Kiribati and their islands were destroyed by mining and corporate greed.
Later, they wrre forced from their homeland due to Japanese WW2 strategy.
A sad story but a contented people...we are learning so much on our adventures here.
