Cruising Plans
26 August 2020

We've had many folks ask us about Covid and how it has affected our cruising plans. As the world struggles to contain the disease, our thoughts and prayers go out to those suffering or grieving during this time.
Due to international border closures throughout the Pacific and beyond, it looks like we will be extending our stay in New Zealand through the 2020 cyclone season.
There are some boats that have left for Fiji, but with the recent uptick in cases in Australia and NZ, there is no 100% guarantee for safe harbor options outside the upcoming cyclone season. Each skipper has to weigh the best options for their boat and crew using the best available information at the time.
We have had such an incredible time here and look forward to extending our stay. We have enjoyed the comforts of land life and have grown local roots with many NZ families and friends. The government has graciously been working with sailors to extend visas as necessary. But, it's a bit of a mental game as we can't raise up anchor and head toward the horizon, as we have done so many times over the past few years.
And of course we miss our dear family and friends! Although grateful to keep in touch with modern technology--there's nothing like a hug and a visit.
Until then, Kia Ora!
