The wind is back
15 October 2009 | 240 miles North East of New Zealand
Mark / Winds N 16knts
Bearing 200 speed 6.5knts, seas 2-2.5m swell. Patchy cloud it is getting colder we must be getting further south. The night watches have been much colder on the last two nights.
It was a bit of a rough ride last night the wind came back in and none of the crew got much sleep. We did get some good speed overnight with a bit of a competion as to who got the fastest. I saw 10.4knts on my watch but the winner was 10.7knts. Not bad for a 25 ton vessel.
We have about a day and a half to go and I am getting a bit anxious to get there, while I have really enjoyed the experience I have missed my family a lot, and I cant wait to make land so that I can at least speak to my wife. Hopefully customs and tides all work out so we can get to the final marina quickly.
We saw flying fish on the deck this morning, strange little things
