02 July 2018 | Richmond Island, Cape Elizabeth
No travel today, we stayed put at Richmond Island, I took some more stabs at trying to get our GPS plotter to send position data to our VHF radio (so in an emergency, the radio can automatically send the coordinates of where the boat is). No luck, I got some tech advice from Pete at Seacoast Electronics, I'm learning more, but no fix yet.
We met Lisa, one of the two caretakers for the island. She explained winter storms and microbursts did the damage to the trees, and that there was a "replanting"in the works. We hiked around the perimeter of the island, much was as we remembered, some areas you could tell ocean storms had taken some of the shoreline we remembered away. We both enjoyed the hike, seeing the ram and sheep and exploring the rocks, ledges, surf and meadows the island had to offer.
Eric and Debra joined us in the anchorage late in the day, we enjoyed a cocktail and the setting sun, another very fun day on our journey.
