Whiling Away The Winter

So how do hopelessly addicted sailors while away the winter when all they really want to do is get their next fix of sand, surf, wind and water. Well, it's sometimes not easy.
Our strategy has been to find ways to put ourselves on the boat, if not physically, then at least mentally.
In earlier posts, we talked about all the things that need to be accomplish this winter in order to move closer to our goal of full-time cruising. So on weekends, we've been using our to-do lists to create projects that remind us of where we want to be and build a little excitement for us both.
So far we managed to check off:
• Replacing the windows and reinforcing all seams on the dodger (the above photo shows Cindy working on the canvas this past weekend)
• Scanning and organizing family pictures in the computer (that took a month)
• Installing and synchronizing all navigation software
• Preparing to rent our condo
• Locking hardware on the cabin sole & cabinet fronts are with the carpenter and will be completed within the next 2 weeks
So while, by Canadian standards, this winter has (thus far) been a bit of a non-event we still can't wait until it's over and we can get back to boat. In the meantime, we'll keep on working on the projects and enjoying our fantasy weekend sailing.
