Back in Ensenada

07 May 2015
Hola all,
Well all good things must come to and end or just slow down. Sally flew home from Jose Del Cabo and a friend of mine flew down to help me bring back the Boat to Ensenada. We made it in 5 days. Fair to good weather the whole way.
Coming out of Cabo, the bat rays were jumping out of the water all around the boat. I wonder if they were trying to say Turn around!!!! Anyhow, the weater was starting to pick up and we had maybe 15 knots of wind with 8 to 10 ft seas. Not a bad ride but not the best either. We pounded all that day and then it turned into a lake by the time we made Mag bay. We started catching yellowfin and hooked a dorado but he came unpinned. What I didnt notice was that during the night before, with the huge seas, my cooler on the back swim step came off. Must have broke the handles as that is how I had it connected to the swimstep. Anyhow, with that gone I didnt have a way to bleed out the fish. So I had to run a line through the gills and lay them on the swim step. I got it done but what a pain.

We didnt stop in Mag bay due to the weather being so good and while its good, you need to keep moving before it turns bad. We kept going to Turtle bay and pulled in around 830 pm. anchored and got some much needed sleep.
The next morning we found that the weather was due to change (for the worst) so we raised the anchor and headed out. We did get a call from a boat requesting a weather report and we mentioned that we would have an update at 0600 am that morning. We could not raise them in the morning to give them an up date so off we went before the weather turned bad on us.
We were buddy boating with some New Zealanders on a larger boat and kept in touch with them on the weather. We decided to head off shore as the swells and wind were better there. We found that it really wasnt good anywhere so we just adjusted our course and pounded away. It wasnt too bad but not the most comfortable ride.

We made Ensenada around midnight on Fri and got in our slip. Sleep came easy.
Now we have the boat at Marina Coral and will keep it there this summer until we figure out what our next adventure will be.
We really enjoyed our cruising but I think we are done and will move on to cruising the US in our Land Yacht (which we havent bought yet)
To all those that followed our blog, we hope you enjoyed it and the pics. I do have more that I will post soon.
Cheers, and good cruising no matter how you do it.!!!!

Heading back

21 April 2015
Well, we did an overnighter from PV to Mazatlan then 3 days later we did an overnighter to Jose del cabo. So now we sit here and wait for good weather. Might be 5 or 6 days. Sally will be flying home when I do get to take off.
Should take about 10 days. to be continued.......

Puerto Vallarta Mexico

07 April 2015 | Mainland Mexico
Getting hotter
We have been here at Paradise Village for a month now and will be heading over to La Cruz for about a week. We will start working our way back up the coast to Mazatlan then make the jump across the Sea of Cortez to Cabo. Then its the bash up to Ensenada. Want to be there by June 1st. So I will have the month of May to make it back. All dependent on weather.
We had some friends come down from So CA and visit for a few days. It was nice getting caught up.
Most of the puddle jumpers have departed and another group will be leaving today.
Some of our friends have been underway for 17 days now and still about 700 miles from the French Marques islands. It has not come easy for them as they have had squalls, breakdowns, and steering problems.
We headed out to a place called Los Arcos for some snorkling but upon arrival there were about 1000 persons in the water, kayaks, snorkelers, and divers. We anchored away from that mess and did some swimming and cooled off. Spent the day and headed back to PV. We have been to some of the small cities around PV and are quite the tourist towns. All in all PV is big and lots of tourists.

Paradise Village Puerto Vallarta

26 March 2015 | Bandaras Bay
Buck getting hotter
Upon arriving at Paradise Village we were surprised to see so many American cruisers and with all the stores and shopping Mall, it looked like a small town in America. The first day we met up with some cruising friends of ours Chris and Chris on Scintilla and went to the welcome party that Paradise village puts on for everyone every week on Sunday. There are free snacks and drinks with a introduction to the weeks activities and a show. It was fun to catch up with our friends and other cruisers we met along the way. Most of the puddle jumpers were here getting ready to make the jump to the French Marquees Islands about 3000 miles away. Last minute details before spending about 30 days at sea. Better them than me!!!!
There were so many places to see and do in PV so we started checking them out.
Sally had a great friend that has completely remodeled her house in Old Town PV so we hopped on a bus (two of them) and headed downtown to pay her a visit. She has a boyfriend who owns a Condo in Playa Royal right here in Paradise Village.
We had lunch downtown and took a walk on the waterfront to check out the place. We saw street shows and lots of vendors selling their wares.
PV is ok but soooo crowded. We had rain, humid, and very hot weather while here. We are moored in a river that has crocodiles and signs that say "Do not feed the Crocodiles" Sally makes sure that our transom gate is closed so they do not crawl on board. I think she had a dream about that.
We will be here until April 7th or so as we have some friends coming down to pay a visit and spend their 10th wedding anniversary here.
We have taken a few side trips while here. One to Costco (haha) and one to a small town of Sayulita which is a big surf town. We went with some friends that has a car here so no buses this time. There is a casino here also and we have gone there to see what we can do but Mexican Casinos just are not the same as Las Vegas!!! Lots of fun though and good food.
We had heard of the turtle release program they have here on the beach so we checked into it and they were going to release some baby turtles real soon. We paid our 31 pesos for the "Turtle talk" and you actually get to hold a turtle and release it on the beach and hope he survives to come back in 8 to 10 years.
Lots of people showed up and we released around 150 turtles. Sally really loved it and it have been one of her highlights of the trip. to be continued.....

La Cruz to Paridise Village

14 March 2015 | Bandaras bay La Cruz
buck / Great
We depart La Cruz to head to Paridise village. A hole 7 miles away. Checked out with port captain and arrived in Paridise Village marina about an hour later.
I can see why they call it paridise village as there is everything here. Resturants, shops, McDonalds, Subway, Dominos pizza, more shops, at least 3 pools, lots of time shares, tigers, crocodiles, mosquitoes, no seeums, Casino, Hospital, and about anything else you would want. We arrived in our slip which was pretty far down the river but close to the hospital and Casino!!!! We will try to move closer to the maine pool when the puddle jumpers take off. They should have been gone by now but weather has delayed them. Chris and Chris are one of those waiting to go so we met up with them. Chris is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to GREAT places to eat and good discounts. Every Sunday there is a Welcome party to all that are arriving in the Marina. We joined Chris and Chris for this and again they showed us the ropes for getting the most out of it. Gota love em!!!! to be continued.

La Curz side trips

14 March 2015 | Bandaras Bay La Cruz
buck / Great
We took a side trip to Bucerias which is a small town about 8 miles away. It is a coastal town and as you could guess, a tourist town. Lots of Gringos staying there. Places to shop and eat. We spent the day looking around and had some Margaritas on the beach with some snacks. Nice day but very touristy!!! to be continued.....
