Mayreau and Tobago Cays, Grenadines

December 28
After a wind-less sail, we arrived at Mayreau at 4:30pm. We ended up anchoring at Saline Bay where other boats are including a couple mega yachts. Took dinghy to shore and spoke with a local. Church was destroyed by Hurricane Beryl in June but services are still going on at 8am Sundays - up the hilltop. Walked along the beach; some swam; watched sunset. Back to boat for dinner and games.

We took dinghy to shore and walked up the hill for 8am mass at the local Catholic church. What was once a beautiful stone church overlooking the ocean was destroyed by the hurricane.
Met Olivier (aka Ma) and she said possible services this morning were held in Union Island.
FYI - photo of this entry is of Mayreau harbor from the hill walking towards the church.
Back to boat and picked up anchor and motored to Tobagos Cay (< 1 hour). Clearest and bluest water we've seen. Picked up a mooring ball. Went to snorkel for close to hours in 2 different areas then back to boat and relaxed. Pictures don't do it justice just how clear the water is due to the white sand bottom...
For dinner, Romeo's guy picked us up in his skiff for beachside bbq. Todd and girls got lobster while Clark and I had fish. All came with rice and garlic potatoes and banana bread for dessert. A little pricey but good way to help the locals as Romeo and Juliet (his wife) live in Union Island where 90% of the island was destroyed by Hurricane Beryl. Romeo's guy brought us back to our boat after dinner.
