Back to Martinique - Saint Anne

January 2
After checkout at Customs and fueling (last time we filled up was at Falmouth, Antigua!), we left Marigot Bay and headed towards Saint Anne, Martinique. Sporty and salty ride! Arrived by 4:30pm and took 4 attempts for anchorage. According to Navionics and Navily, some spots could be rock, some sand.
Anyway, anchor finally bit after 4 attempts. After some online research for nearby restaurants, we decided on DeLims. Most restaurants are not very big and require reservations and they are close from 2:30-7pm!
FYI - we talked up French food to the kids so much that we had to go to a French island. The language barrier is tough...but we manage as the food is GREAT!

Out by 8am and first stop is clearing in at Customs at Snack Bou Bou (Customs at the islands are not in your typical office building but in small offices or even restaurants). After, headed to bakery for café au laits and croissants because why not, we're in a French island. Walked around the outdoor market then took a taxi to Club Med. Bought a day pass. We've gone to Club Med Cancun 3 times and love it. I did aqua gym at the beach then we all just relaxed poolside. Great buffet lunch. Showered before heading back to boat (shore shower, yes!) and got drinks and took pictures after. Taxi dropped us off and we got pizzas at Pizza Miramar to go by the square and back to boat just in time as rain started. Great pizzas!

Rainy start of the morning. Left boat by 9:30am to go to shore. First stop is bakery (again) and got lots of treats. Walked around the outdoor market and shops and bought some stuff. Spent the most time at Puerto Bikini where I bought girls some expensive and one of a kind one-piece swimsuits. Back to boat by 12:30pm - tried to get bokits at Snack Bou Bou (yes, same place to clear customs) but he's busy and can't accommodate takeout orders. Relaxed on boat; Todd slept; girls swam. Attended 6pm mass which we walked out at 7pm as we had dinner reservations at Le M (homily was 30+ minutes long and we left, we just finished the Nicene Creed). Dinner was great. Limited menu but very good food - cod accras and gravlax for starters, I had Caesar salad; Todd and Hazel had the duck breast and Paige got fish. We all had cocktails and wine and one of each dessert. Very good food! Back to boat by 10pm.
FYI - as mentioned earlier, most restaurants in the island close between 2-7pm and most require reservations for dinner. Todd made our Le M reservation after we got our bakery items at 9am!

Todd went to 9am mass while we all stayed behind - good thing as it started pouring when Todd left. He said mass was a little shorter this time. We had 11:30 reservation at Snack Bou Bou and we all had bokits - very good with homemade fried bread filled with crudites (lettuce, tomato), your choice of protein and sauce. I've been wanting to try these sandwiches since we were in Guadaloupe and didn't have a chance so I was excited we get to try these with the girls. After, Todd went back to the boat to print out our checkout papers while the girls and I did some grocery shopping at Carrefours. When all done, back to boat and girls swam for a bit then we left for Rodney Bay.
